You've got to get one of these.
I bought one about 1 year ago. It is used about two to three times per day on average, and it still works great. I haven't had a single problem and haven't been locked out of the house once since. The only caveat is that you've got to remember to change the batteries when the mechanism starts to slow down because not long after it will stop working.
